Today (June 19th) is father's day, men all across the nation are enjoying their days with their children, at the golf course, maybe somewhere on a beach getting a sun-kissed tan; or with the homies toasting it up!
On this Father's Day, TODAY compiled a list of cocktails for you to sip to, something smooth, a little light to make you feel nice, alleviate some stress; and just do you.
Starting with the Poppa's Pride Cocktail
The main ingredient in this cocktail is the ginger beer that gives it a zest, along with the the lemons to make it tangy.
Check out the recipe below.
- 2 ounces Kentucky bourbon
- 4 ounces ginger beer
- 5 mint leaves
- 2 lemon wedges
- Soda water
- Angostura bitters
Mix the first four ingredient listed in a shaker, add some ice and shake. You could dance or sing while you getting your shake on. After you are finished, pour into a glass, throw some mint leaves and drink up!
The next cocktail is the Cherry Gin & Tonic
It's a sweet drink that will make love to your tastebuds.

- 3 tablespoons cherry juice
- 2 ounces gin
- 4 ounces tonic
- 3 lime slices
- Fresh cherry for garnish
To prepare this drink, fill a glass with cherry juice, squeeze some lime for flavor. Get some ice in there, squeeze some more lime juice, pour some gin, squeee another lime slice; and add your tonic to top it off. Garnish with a lime and a cherry to eat afterwards. Cheers!
Last but not least is the Picasso Julep Cocktail
The art of drinks and cocktails, a masterpiece of decadent flavors to drink and toast to.
To make it, you need:
- 2 ounces rye whiskey
- 1/4 ounce maple syrup
- 4 raspberries
- 6 mint leaves
- 2 dashes bitters
Pour maple syrup into a cup of your choice, add three raspberries and mint to base the flavor. Then pour your whiskey and some more maple syrup. Get you some cracked ice and fill the cup with it, leave enough space to add some crushed ice on the top. The rest of the mint and raspberries, use it to garnish your drink. Reflect on why this day is special to you, smile and have a toast!
