For their May issue, Glamour magazine features First Lady Michelle Obama, along with actresses Kerry Washington and Sarah Jessica Parker on the cover. The photoshoot took place at the White House inside the Blue Room and the ladies graces the cover in celebration of powerful women.
The issue details Lady O, Kerry and Parker's contributions to the world by utilizing their gifts and talents. The magazine sat down with each women for an interview.
In Mrs. Obama's interview, she reflected gracing Glamour's magazine back in December of 2009 and talked about how much she's evolved since then. Michelle revealed her growth as an individual and in her role as a First Lady. She spoke about being a voice for other women and using the platforms she was given to do so. Lady O revealed she admires when people step up, whatever field of expertise they might be in, to make a difference in the lives of others and the world.
During Kerry Washington's interview, she spoke about her father serving for America and the challenges some people face when they return from war. The conversation went into women veterans, where Sarah Jessica Parker took part in also, talking about her friends who served in the army. All three ladies came to the round table and talked about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which is not often treated for veterans of war. The traumas they've witness and experienced while in war, at times get swept under the rug and neglected. The ladies expressed how veterans, especially women because of their emotional nature should be encouraged to talk to somebody about their experiences from war, so they could relieve themselves of the stress it brings. Kerry Washington stated how veteran of war are heroes and should be honored for their courage and serving their country.
