Summer Review: Meek Mill - 'Dreams Worth More Than Money' and Recap Of His Hip Hop Beef With Drake

Posted On: September 08, 2015

This summer was a comeback for Meek Mill, from his jail stint due to violating his parole and his season to plug fans with new music. Meek went to work and released his album, "Dreams Worth More Than Money," with several features: Maybach Music Group's (MMG), Rick Ross, Young Money's Drake, Chris Brown, Swizz Beatz and more.

Meek encountered some controversy over the summer as well, in a Hip Hop beef with Drake who is featured on the album as mentioned above. It started from Meek Mill venting on Twitter. There were some backlashes from the beef towards Meek and several memes made about his beef with Drake. Controversy sells and the beef not only elevated Drake who calls himself a Six God, it also will cause Meek to rise to a new level in his career.

Meek and Drake both bring different elements of creativity to the Hip Hop game. Meek's energy is fascinating and amazing as an MC who truly moves the crowd. Meek has performed on stages by himself without any hype men, entourage and intensified the crowd with the power of his energy. Meek is also great when it comes to battle rap. Drake is unique in his own right as well, he has this flow about him where he can basically maneuver and shift on any instrumentals, and remains in his own element. If you ever seen a lava lamp and the thick parts of it maneuvering but yet remains in its own element, that's how Drake flows on instrumentals. Meek and Drake are both great artists and admired by fans across the nation.

Beenie Sigel made a statement about the beef Meek encountered during the summer with Drake and advised Meek Mill to reflect on the professionalism of his circle (you're only as great as the people you surround yourself with and those who care enough to point out your mistakes, flaws without you being offended, in order for you to learn, grow and become better), when it comes to offering constructive criticism, so he can elevate and grow in his creativity in Hip Hop; and other endeavors.

Meek's album Dreams Worth More Than Money got some great reviews, despite the beef. Hopefully, Meek Mill finds inspiration in the what took place over the summer and apply the motivation towards his continued journey in Hip Hop creating music, his vision towards entreprenuership, and more. Meek Mill transcends as a Hip Hop artist, who utilized the stage to launch himself as a business man, releasing his own sneaker line via Puma, his own video game which he released in an app form for iPhone and Android phone users. And who knows what other business endeavors Meek Mill might plug himself into, since he already applied the vision of entrepreneurship and towards becoming a business man.

Dreams Worth More Than Money  can be purchased on iTunes. And streamed below via Spotify.

Especially with heavy advertisement for fast food and junk food, fruits and vegetables don't get the shine that they should.

"Straight Outta Compton" Makes History As The Highest Music Grossing Film of All Time

Posted On: September 01, 2015

Talk about levels, yes they did that! Bang!

Let's get to it.

Congratulations to F. Gary Gray and his vision, the writers, producers, directors, the characters who played Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, MC Ren and the late great Eazy E for their contributions and innovations to Hip Hop; and everybody involved in bringing the biography of the legendary N.W.A. to the big screen. They have all made history and will be documented as the biggest and most successful music biopic film of all time.

This is the third week "Straight Outta Compton" continues on top at the box office and makes history as the highest grossing musical biopic movie ever. According to USA Today, Straight Outta Compton broke barriers in cinematography raking in $134.1 million in less than a month and became the king of all music movies.

The film also launched its campaign called 'Straight Outta,' for all genre of producers and directors, entertainers, Hip Hop artists, creatives and the masses to rep where they are from; applying the Straight Outta Compton design to their pictures for display. The campaign tremendously marketed the film because it inspired people to create t-shirts, hats, paintings and graffiti in art and expressed their individuality towards the movie.

Straight Outta Compton featured the controversial Hip Hop group N.W.A who brought a new culture from the streets to the art of Hip Hop. N.W.A took the street lifestyle and applied it towards music to make statements about police brutality, politics, the drug wars on every block in America, the issues of fatherless children in the African-American communities, the affect the projects had on African-Americans, the will to survive and come out of them in America; the culture of Hip Hop, the lifestyle and more.

Also, N.W.A was not afraid to confront the elephant in the room, especially police brutality and their injustice and violence towards African-American men. N.W.A was controversial with their music where it made people think and raise an eyebrow about the issues of racism affecting African-American. You could bop your head to a track from N.W.A. and take a track as well, to apply it towards a learning tool about the social issues in America.

Straight Outta Compton illustrated all of that in the movie and took Hip Hop, the culture, the music and the marketing aspect of it to a new level.

Salute to one of Hip Hop's generals on their success and continued innnovations!
