Prepping her fans and listeners for the release of her fifth studio album, Fantasia previewed a few tracks off the project. Her new album, "The Definition Of..." embodies 11 songs with features by Stacy Barthe, Aloe Blacc and Tye Tribbett.
The album consist of several different sound elements from R&B, neo-soul, gospel, pop, jazz, county and rock.
"In this album, I wanted to embody James Brown, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt," Fantasia conveyed during a recent interview.
The Definition Of... is a liberating movement for Fantasia, as she confronts, reflects and comes face to face with some of the struggles she's encountered, endured; and overcame in life. She's intimate on the album, where Fantasia gets naked with her listeners and exudes raw emotions, revealing parts about herself. On the track 'Ugly,' Fantasia brings awareness about societal depiction of body image and beauty, how it affects the confidence and self esteem of women who will do anything, even if it means harming themselves to live up to society's standards. 'Stay Up' is a song to fuel the passion and power in others to never stay down. The Definition Of... closes with 'I Made It,' a gospel infused song that moves through the souls of others and redeems with the power of music.
Fantasia enlisted R Kelly, Jerome “J-Roc” Harmon, Ron Fiar, Brian Kennedy; and more as her production team.
