Summer Review: Louisiana Barber, Courtney Holmes Host Event Promoting Readership and Inspires Children To Read With Free Haircuts

Posted On: September 01, 2015

A barber from Dubuque, Louisiana named, Courtney Holmes hosted and participated in events at his community to promote and inspire children to read. The purpose for the events were to prepare children and their families for back to school, so they can be successful in their studies, infuse their abilities to process information; and understand data.

This is the second year Courtney Holmes held the events called, "Back to School Bash" at the Comiskey Park in Dubuque. The children missions were to read books to barbers, who gave them free haircuts. Holmes' aspiration in philanthropy is purposed to address problems in education, budget cuts and the lack of books offered in schools. It also enriches children in knowledge to read more, in order to spark their imagination to become creatives and innovate the world they live in.

The event was sponsored and coordinated by Anderson Sainci, several non-profit organizations, reading programs, the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and; volunteers from Louisiana.
