New Music: Remy Ma feat. Chris Brown - 'Melanin Magic (Pretty Brown)'

Posted On: January 19, 2018

Remy Ma is bringing that #BlackGirlMagic with a new song called, 'Melanin Magic' featuring Chris Brown.

After inking a deal with Columbia Records, Remy Ma is hitting the studio to work on her upcoming album "7 Winters & 6 Summers." The title of the album pertains to Remy's testimony of being locked up and never giving up on her self, to find the road to freedom. In an effort to market her upcoming sophomore album, Reminisce linked up with Lil Kim in November of 2017 to release the single 'Wake Me Up.'

Since then, the alarm clock has been buzzing and Remy is not sleeping on her grind. In her latest joint with Breezy, Rem blesses the track to inspire, empower and; motivate melanin women (Black women of all skin tones) to accept and love themselves more. That's that divine feminine energy, get your Goddess glow up and shine in your brilliance!

Flowing over the classic tune 'Pretty Brown Eyes' by Mint Condition, Remy soulfully lays her bars over the instrumentals. Not missing a beat, Remy Ma is feeling herself.

"Body lookin’ like cinnamon."

And Papoose is licking all the icing off that bun.

Uh, huh.

7 Winters & 6 Summers is due out earlier this year, no information is available on a release date.

Until then, hit that play button and get in a vibe with her new joint below.

Skrillex Remix: Kendrick Lamar - 'Humble'

Posted On: September 25, 2017

I'm not sure about this mix even though Skrillex is that dude with this music production thing. But this remix of Kendrick Lamar's 'Humble' with the electronic dance music, hmmm I can't quite put my ears to it.

The instrumentals are not bad, sounds like Skrillex is playing with the MPC and some keyboard instrumentals. At least he is being creative and this mix will definitely spin at a rave club. Who knows maybe after a few spins and Henny, one can bop their head to this.

Well, you can bop to it now.

Blaze it below.

D'Angelo surprised fans today with the release of his third studio album, "The Black Messiah." The album was available on iTunes at midnight earlier today and D'Angelo held a private listening session in New York City, hosted by Afropunk and Red Bull Music Academy.

The title of the album faced scrutiny but D'Angelo addressed the controversies by stating these comments below.

“It’s about people rising up in Ferguson and in Egypt and in Occupy Wall Street and in every place where a community has had enough and decided to make change happen,” he said in a statement. “Not every song on this album is politically charged (though many are), but calling this album Black Messiah creates a landscape where those songs can live to the fullest.”

The album became a trending topic on Twitter prior to its released due to the controversies. But so far, the album got some great reviews. Questlove from the 'Roots' expressed how D'Angelo's new album is a passionate project. He also stated, the album was all that and then some. Check out Questlove's comments below.

Another One Bites The Dust: Cipha Sounds Resigns From HOT 97

Posted On: January 28, 2015

Dang, what's going on over at HOT 97? First Angie Martinez, now Cipha Sounds, hmmm... things that make you raise an eyebrow.

There's some speculations with this story, but it's evident Cipha Sounds no longer works at HOT 97. Different sources are reporting he got fired, some are saying he resigned but whatever the reason might be, it was a mutual agreement between Cipha Sounds and the administration department at HOT 97. But one thing for sure, HOT 97 will never be the same.

After working for HOT 97 for 17 years, Cipha Sounds called it quits. In a recent Juan Epstein podcast, Cipha Sounds expressed his frustration with the popular music station and revealed how he turned down a job offering at their rival station, Power 105.1 out of loyalty for HOT 97. Cipha Sounds vented to his colleague Peter Rosenberg about the lack of communication at HOT 97 when it comes to their bosses. Cipha also opened up, about Nessa Nitty from California joining the station in replacement of Angie Martinez and having no issues with her.

Cipha Sounds went on to state, how he was not sure where he stood with the radio station and was uncertain about his future there. But expressed how he wants HOT 97 to be successful regardless, if he continued to work there or not.

Hmmm... There's more.

Check out the the whole broadcast of the podcast below.

After the episode on Juan Epstein, Cipha Sounds announced his departure at HOT 97. Both parties involved, Cipha and HOT 97 released statements about the matter.

Below is the statement released from HOT 97.

"Effective immediately, Cipha Sounds is no longer with WQHT HOT 97 FM. We wish him well on his future endeavors."

Cipha Sounds statement below was a little more lengthy.

“After 17 years, I’m leaving Hot 97. I¹m changing my relationship status from ‘it¹s complicated’ to ‘single’. It¹s been an amazing ride – from intern to weekends to morning show host to fill Angie¹s seat in afternoons. Many years of incredible, life-changing experiences and enough amazing memories to last five lifetimes. The next move is already underway and I promise it’s going to be huge.”

So far, no other statements have been released. I'm sure wherever Cipha Sounds goes or ends up, he'll be okay and do fine. With his experience, Cipha Sounds could even start his own radio station. Cipha is talented, this could be the set up for something big.
