Swarm Of Bees Show Up Next to Muhammad Ali's Famous "Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee" Quote

Posted On: June 11, 2016

Coincidence? Things that make you go hmmm.

Lots of irony in this story, lets get to it.

Local newscasters from Louisville, Kentucky (WLKY) reported, a swarm of bees near a mural to honor the legendary boxer with one of Muhammad Ali's quotes inscribed. His famous, "Float like a butterfly, Sting like a bee." quote.

In the television broadcast, the beekeper, Kevin McKinney revealed it was 15,000 bees that showed up in a tree next to the mural and stated,

"The irony is not lost on me at all."

And added, it was the first time a swarm of bees showed up at the tree next to the mural.

Some residents from Lousiville, Kentucky saw it as being a sign from the Great One and expressed, how the bees were peaceful and weren't trying to sting anybody, but wanted to be near the mural.

Is it a coincidence? Being that Louisville is also Ali's hometown.

Hmmm, well at let you figure that one out.

Posted On: June 02, 2016

June is finally here for students across the nation, who look forward to their summer vacations, camps; and for some, they'll be learning a thing or two about work skills. Summer jobs have been effective in keeping youth out of trouble and from getting into any kind of criminal activities. Therefore, it reduces the violence in their communities and limits their risk of ending up in jail. Summer jobs give youth the opportunity of learning certain sets of skills, depending on the trade they choose to work at, helps them develop their interpersonal skills, as to prepare them for the workforce in their careers.

It teaches them time management, introduces youth to a broader scale of interacting with people, personnel skills, dealing with customers and resolving their issues, they also learn how interact with authoritative figures; and for some, they learn managerial and supervisory skills.

To foster the productivity of summer jobs and the effectiveness of it, the White House and Department of Labor recently issued $21 million in investments for a program called, Summer Jobs and Beyond. The main purpose of the grant is to provide youth, especially youth who live in crime infested environments, a better outlook for their future. The grants will be divided across 11 communities, tp rovide summer jobs and yearly employement for youth. In addition, the White House will supplement 16 Summer Impact Hubs across certain communities that will receive support from 16 federal angencies. This includes resources to assist those communities with improving their summer programs, violence reduction programs, filtering out different kind of services and learning new things, adapting to innovation, providing entreprenuership opportunities; and their meal programs.

The Summer Imapct Hubs include:

  1. Baltimore, MD
  2. Clarksdale, MS
  3. Detroit, MI
  4. Flint, MI
  5. Gary, IN
  6. Los Angeles, CA
  7. Newark, NJ
  8. New Orleans, LA
  9. St. Louis, MO
  10. Washington, D.C

President Barack Obama has been very active in improving education for children all across the nation. Back in February, the President and the White House launched the Summer Opportunity Project, in an effort to raise awareness and minister services in summer jobs for youth.

"Access to a job in the summer and beyond can make all the difference to a young person—especially those who don’t have access to many resources and opportunities," President Barack Obama expressed during the launch.

Also, as a method to decrease youth related violence over the summer and cultivate their first working experience. The President urged, local, state and community leaders, schools, businesses and; other community based organizations to get involve with the Summer Opportunity Project. And administer the required summer programs for the youth.

The purpose of the Summer Job & Beyond and the Summer Impact Hubs are centered to empower local and state leaders, schools, community organizers, businesses, youth agencies, philantrophic leaders, students; and all those involve in implementing a summer that is gratifying, beneficial, safe and productive. Police Officers Gets Dragged By Woman in SUV, Suspect Was Stopped for Shoplifting

Posted On: March 04, 2016

Everything boils down to choices and apparently for one woman in South Carolina, her choice landed her in hot water.

25 year old Laquandra Borden and 36 year old Chastity Stokes were suspected of shoplifting from Walmart and were stopped by two police officers back in November of 2015. After routine of protocols and informing them why they were being pulled over and detained, one of the suspect was allowed back in the car which was a black SUV. It's unsure why the suspect was allowed back in her car, news reporting documents do not state why, that information was not released by the Horry County Police Department in South Carolina. Anyhow, Laquandra Borden must of thought that her and Chastity Stokes were Thelma and Louise because I don't know what was going through her mind but she really attempted to get away with the great escape. And do you know how dangerous that was?! With these trigger happy cops thinking they're cowboys.

Recent release of the dash cam footage, reveals and displays on video Borden attempting to drive off, dragging the officers with her car and leaving the scene of the traffic stop. First she goes forward (prior to that, you can hear the officers telling her to get out the car) and hits the patrol car while one of the officers is holding on to the driver's section of the vehicle. The second officer who was on the scene during the traffic stop, attempts to pull Laquandra out the car but she puts the car in reverse and backs up, by then the officers let go of their hold unto the car and Thelma (Laquandra Borden) drove off. As you can see in the footage, only one of the three officers pulled out his gun, like he was ready to bust a cap, luckily for Borden those other two officers were present and maybe that's why she's still alive.

You would think with all these incidents of police brutality, Laquandra Borden would of been wise with her choices and decisions making but nope! She's been watching too many movies because she pulled an OJ Simpson on them and led the HCPD on a highway chase. And ended up like Queen Latifah in Set if Off and was surrounded by the whole HC police department but fortunately for Borden, she was not a casualty and caught just one bullet in the arm.

Chasity Stokes and Laquandra Borden were charged with shoplifting over $2,000 dollars worth of merchadise including electronics from Walmart. Both of the suspects were seen on surveillance cameras loading a huge plastic tub with all the stolen merchandise in their car near the garden area of the store. Stokes was charged with three counts of shoplifting and criminal conspiracy. Borden on the other hand caught more charges as she should, for lack of good judgements and was charged with hit and run, first degree assault and battery; and a slew of other charges. Both of them have been released on bond and are awaiting trial.

Check out the footage of the incident below.

What is the moral of the story?

Hopefully, Laquandra Borden learned a valuable lesson from this, how one poor choice can lead down an unforturnate road.

FedEx Woman From Louisiana Gets Caught in The Midst of a Tornado and Survives

Posted On: March 04, 2016

Kyra Johnson who is a FedEx worker from Louisiana had just finished making her deliveries at the back door of Sagona's Hardware. Upon walking to the front of the store, Johnson noticed a change in the sky which became dark and gloomy. Kyra didn't realize it was a tornado and minutes later, she was caught in it.

Before that occurred, David Sagona the owner of the hardware store got all his employees to safety in the offices and bathrooms of his establishment. Everybody endured the tornado unscathed and Sagona's store was the only liability. David reviewed the surviellence video of when the tornado transpired and to survey the damages that was done to his store. What he saw on the video shocked, surprised and also, amazed him.

Kyra Johnson was viewed in the video trying to get into the store from the front door which was locked and she couldn't get in. By then, the winds were 140 miles per hour and Kyra was actually in the tornado. With nowhere to go, she placed herself in between a Coke machine, didn't hold on to anything and braced herself. But then the Coke machine fell over and Johnson started to grasp towards her faith.

"It just fell right in front of me. When it fell, I was like God what to do next? There's nothing else in front of me but I didn't move. That's how I'm still in shock how could all that happen in front of me and it was like a matrix or a bubble. He just wanted me to see. I'm going to put you here. I'm going to put you through it. It's ok but you're going to see some things," Kyra asserted.

During a news report interview, Johnson credited God for her endurance and survival.

"God, there's no explaining it. God, because after I saw the video, I didn't know what it looked like. I just figured I was in a tornado."

Despite the damages to his hardware store resulting from the tornado, David Sagona is choosing to look at the blessing of the whole experience and being able to witness a miracle through Kyra Johnson. It etched a bond between them and strengthen their faith that God has them both in His hands.

Check out the footage news report of Johnson and Sagona's story of enduring the worst storm and overcoming it with faith.

Seven Year Old Boy Sent Home Because Of Haircut With Part In It

Posted On: March 01, 2016

A seven year old from Alabama got sent home from school because of his haircut which had a part in it. His mother, Keisha Rembert was furious after finding out why she had to go pick up her son.

"He was like upset and he said I had to come get him out of school because he was being suspended. He was pulled out of class, saying that he had a design in his head but it really wasn't a design, it was a part," Rembert told news reporters.

Keisha's son, Rashaad Hunter is an outstanding student who gets straight A's and is in the honor roll at his elementary school. Rembert was baffled on why her son was sent home over a haircut and concerned because of how it affected Rashaad.

"He was walking with his head down, when I saw him he was like teary-eyed at first because he doesn't want to be suspended for no part in his head. I told him, 'Don't hold your head down, continue to make these A's and B's because that part is nothing."

News officials contacted the Greenwood Elementary School in Bessemer and was informed by the Bessemer City Schools Superintendent, Dr. Fred Primm who couldn't clarify what is an acceptable hairstyle or not from the school handbook. But made it clear that Rashaad Hunter's part in his hair was too long and looked more like a design.

"We allow small parts but not excessively long parts that are done as designs. That part in that young man's hair would be considered a design. The principal has decided not to suspend the child," Fred Primm stated.

Things that make you go hmmm. A case of stereotype? Perhaps, you decide.

Check out the footage of the news report below.

Time's Photographer Gets Choked Slammed at Donald Trump's Rally in Virginia

Posted On: March 01, 2016

It seems like wherever Donald Trump is at, trouble is either brewing, somebody's getting thrown out at one of his rally, racism is in the air, ignorance is prowling, either Trump is inciting a riot or going off about the Black Lives Matter Movement. When it comes to Donald Trump, controversy is not a good look for him. New York Daily News can be bias at times and published a front cover of The Donald wearing a Ku Klux Klan attire, tells the masses he's a tyrant not a leader. But that's another article.

Yesterday (Feb. 29th.) during a Trump rally at Radford University in Virginia, a photographer for Time got choked slammed by one of Trump's Secret Service men. Referencing an article from the Wall Street Journal, the rally generated a crowd of 3,000 people, however there was about 30 people in the crowd which was the Black Lives Matter protestors, Trump of course demanded the security guards to remove the protestors from the premises.

Below is an excerpt how it went down according to the Wall Street Journal:

The rally, at Radford University on Monday, drew a crowd of about 3,000, most of them Trump supporters. But about 30 young supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement interrupted Mr. Trump’s remarks, chanting, “No more hate, let’s be great.” Mr. Trump urged security guards to expel the protesters — “Get ‘em out.” As they were being removed, Christopher Morris, a veteran photographer for Time magazine, attempted to move out of a press holding area to take pictures of the protesters. As he did so, a Secret Service agent assigned to the Trump campaign told him to retreat. they scuffled, and the agent grabbed the photographer by the neck and threw him to the ground. From the ground, Mr. Morris kicked the agent.

And the footage of the scuffle can be viewed below.

Another angle of the altercation displays footage of Morris exchanging words with the Secret Service and saying "f*ck you!" and then, all hell broke loose.

Morris made a statement about Donald Trump's rules making it difficult for photographers to work.

"What happened today was very unfortunate and unexpected. The rules at Trump events are significantly stricter than other campaigns and make it very difficult to work as a photographer, as many others have pointed out before me. I regret my role in the confrontation, but the agent’s response was disproportionate and unnecessarily violent. I hope this incident helps call attention to the challenges of press access."

And continued with his statement, revealing he has never had any confrontation with any Secret Service while he was employed at the White House.

"I’ve worked for nine years at the White House and have never had an altercation with the Secret Service."

Time released a statement about the incident which can be viewed below.

TIME has contacted the U.S. Secret Service to express concerns about the level and nature of the agent’s response. Morris has also expressed remorse for his part in escalating the confrontation.

And the Secret Service response:

“The Secret Service is aware of an incident involving an employee of the Secret Service that occurred earlier today in Radford, VA. At this time, our local field office is working with their law enforcement partners to determine the exact circumstances that led up to this incident. The Secret Service will provide further details as warranted once additional fas surrounding the situation are known.”

France Becomes First Country to Pass Law Which Requires Supermarkets to Donate Unsold Food to Charity

Posted On: March 01, 2016

Have you ever wondered how much food is wasted per day, per month, per year; while somebody goes hungry? Well the French government has given it much thought and decided to do something about it.

Earlier last month (February), France passed a law and became the first country to prohibit supermarket from throwing out any unsold food. The unsold groceries are required by law to go to charity as donations.

The law stems from a petition which was started by French councilman Arash Derambarsh  to combat the country's issues in poverty and food waste. In a unanimous vote, the law was passed and put into action. If any supermarkets in France is caught throwing out or wasting food, they can face fines up to 75,000 in euros ($83,700) or two years in prison.

Supermarkets were pouring bleach over food or storing them in warehouses to prevent spoilage, this also was an issue the government wanted to address because of hazardous conditions in food management. With the new law, supermarket will be required to donate instead of taking extreme measures to conserve unsold food and produce.

The head of Banques Alimentaires, a network of French food banks, Jacques Bailet stated to the Guardian the new law would: "It would greatly increase an already emerging trend for supermarkets to donate to food banks."

According to research and studies: Each year over 7.8 million tons of food are wasted in France while 1.4 billion tons are wasted worldwide.

France is hoping the all of Europe will pass similar laws in preventing food waste and hopefully, the rest of the world.

Toyota Ordered to Pay $22 Million for Charging Blacks and Asians High Interest Rates

Posted On: February 19, 2016

This past Tuesday (Feb. 16th) the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in alliance with the Justice Department reached a settlement against Toyota in a discrimination case. The major car corporation was accused of being bias towards Black and Asian borrowers by charging them with high interest rates. Well that ignorance is costing Toyota, where they are ordered to pay $22 million dollars in compensation to those Black and Asian borrowers, who paid more for their auto loans than White borrowers.

In 2013 the Departement of Justice and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau led a federal probe into Toyota's auto lending practices and their dealerships. Upon the investigation, it was discovered that Blacks paid 0.27%  and Asians paid 0.18& of interest rates more than White borrowers who also had similar auto loans.

Following the settlement, Toyota Motor Credit Corp. issued a statement of their no tolerance for discrimination and willingness to compensate the people who was affected by it.

"TMCC does not tolerate discrimination of any kind, even perceived or unintentional, from its employees or business partners — this principle extends to fair lending practices."

Their statement continued with TMCC promising to be equally fair with their auto loans.

"While TMCC respectfully disagrees with the agencies’ methodologies to determine whether industry lending practices have been discriminatory, the company shares the agencies’ commitment to ensuring that consumers can count on competitive and fair auto financing options."

Consumers and buyers are protected under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act which prohibits discrimination in all aspects of lending, including auto loans.

Billion Dollar Australian Drug Bust Ironically Discovers Meth Smuggled In Bras

Posted On: February 16, 2016

The irony of drug bust from double D's.

Well, that's what happened in Australia in what police are calling a billion dollar drug bust, of recovering a meth operation estimated at a street value of $1billion in Australia and close to $900 million in U.S. Unlike marijuana which is a plant, methamphetamine is man made.

160 gallons of liquid meth was seized in Sydney, Australia according to published artciles by CNN. The drugs were creatively inserted as part of the gel lining in thousands of silicone bras, which were imported from Hong Kong. The contraband was also planted in bottles of craft glues, other distinctive art supplies and paints in number sets. So far three nationals from Hong Kong have been arrested and one national from China has been detained.

According to news articles from Australia, the drug bust is beng documented as the largest in history. In an ABC News report, the broadcaster gave a break down of how the liquid meth would of been manufactured and sold in kilos.

"Police said the 720 litres of methylamphetamine uncovered could have been used to make 504 kilos of ice with a street value of $1.26 billion, working out at $2.5 million per kilo."

Chinese Narcotic Control Commission was part of the international drug task force, in the investigation of the meth smuggling from Hong Kong to Australia. In their investigative reports, meth has been smuggled through the ice trade of different markets. Meth is one of the issues affecting Australia's communities and its people. The country will continue in its effort of sweeping its streets in drug bust and sanitizing its communities to become drug free.
