Since signing with the Chicago Bulls and making the transition from the Miami Heat, Dwayne Wade was officially introduced as a Bulls member this past Friday (July 29th).
At a press conference, the Chicago Bulls presented and officially introduced Dwayne Wade to sports media as a basketball player for their team. Wade had the floor and began his statement conveying gratefulness to be able to return to his hometown of Chicago.
"I'm thankful to be here today."
During his speech, Dwayne Wade reflected on his childhood and expressed how he always wanted to be a basketball player. Wade acknowledged where he grew up and came from.
"I'm a Chicago guy, a Chicago kid. I remember sitting on the floor and watching the Chicago Bulls win their first title. I was 9 years old, watching on an itty bitty tv, and I said, 'That's what I want to do, that's who I want to be.'"
Prior to his childhood reflection, Dwayne Wade began his speech making it very clear that the Chicago Bulls was Jimmy Butler's team.
"This is Jimmy's team," he said. "It won't be a tug and pull whose team it is."
And how he is there to assist.
"This is Jimmy Butler's team. Myself and Rondo are here to bring what we bring as athletes to this team and to this city."
Dwayne Wade referenced part of a speech Shaquille O'Neal made when he came to play for Miami and instead of stepping on anybody's toes, he made it known that the Heat was Wade's team. Now in 2016, Dwayne Wade reflected on the speech and past the same honor to Butler.
